Jerry Jones is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. He’s been in charge since 1989, and has led them to a Super Bowl victory once. This year, they’re looking for their first win since 2009.
Shannon Sharpe, former NFL player and current Fox Sports personality, tweeted on Sunday that it’s hard for him as a fan to see his team ever winning another Super Bowl with Jerry in charge.
Skip Bayless is the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan you’ll ever meet, but he has his limitations.
The Cowboys are being featured on the famous NFL offseason show Hard Knocks after an up-and-down season in which they missed the playoffs. After viewing episode three of the show, Bayless offered his views on the Cowboys’ present situation and owner Jerry Jones.

For the record, this isn’t the first time Jones has been chastised for the way he manages the Cowboys. He takes on the role of acting general manager (unusual for an owner) and exerts authority over the coaching staff.
Every offseason, a report will be released detailing a decision or personnel move made by Jones that the Cowboys’ coaching staff did not agree with.
While Jones is the owner and can basically do anything he wants with the Cowboys’ direction, he hasn’t delivered good enough results to justify his near-tyrannical control. Dallas hasn’t won a Super Bowl since 1995, and the NFC East has only been won three times in the last ten years.
When it comes to critiquing Jones, it’s safe to say Bayless has a solid case.

Bayless is known for being one of the most upbeat Cowboys supporters. Year after year, he consistently picks them to win the NFC East and to make it far into the playoffs.
Given the franchise’s lack of success over the last 25 years, Bayless turning on Jones isn’t unexpected. Nonetheless, it demonstrates how terrible things have become in Dallas.
Dak Prescott, the team’s starting quarterback, is also experiencing some doubt. Prescott is coming off an ankle injury that ended his season and is now dealing with shoulder discomfort that necessitated an MRI.
Prescott has yet to play in a preseason game this summer, and his participation in training camp has been restricted. Prescott will be ready for Week 1 according to the Cowboys’ coaching staff, but there is some outside skepticism.
Another reason for Bayless to be concerned about his squad and how it is run from the top down.
Dallas is gearing up for a great year in 2023.

Jones is unlikely to ever sell the Cowboys’ team. At some time, he’ll most likely pass it on to his offspring. However, this does not rule out the possibility of a replacement for others in the organization.
After a disappointing first season, head coach Mike McCarthy is already in deep water. As the years pass, several of the team’s aging stalwarts (Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper) are becoming more and more disposable.
Bayless may criticize Jones all he wants, but Jones is unlikely to notice. Jones, on the other hand, is concerned with the public perception of his football squad. If the Cowboys are the laughingstock of the NFC East this season, one can only expect major changes — much to the delight of Bayless, a devoted supporter.
